The Baby Chicks Arrived!
This morning at 6 a.m. we received a phone call from the Post Office telling us our babies arrived! They hatched on Monday and were then shipped to us through the mail, so they are now 2 days old. Who knew the USPS shipped chicks? Here are all 5. From Left to Right, we present...
Tula (small one on left), General Grievous (dark one), Marshmellow (silver one), Apple (small one which Marshmellow is sitting on) and Chicken Josephine a.k.a. Chicken Joe (big yellow one above Apple and Marshmellow).

Tula and Apple are white silkie bantoms. They are a smaller chicken and will have lots and lots of hairlike white plummage. Sometimes all you can see is a piece of their beak among all the feathers. Their eggs are petite, but we heard are good for baking.
Marshmellow is an Easter Egger chicken who will lay eggs that are blue, pink, brown, maybe even green.
General Grievous is an Australorp. She will be big and black and beautiful. A great egg layer to be!
Chicken Joe is a Buff Orpington. She is the classic golden chicken. Another great egg layer!
All are female too, so don't worry neighbors. No early wake up calls.

Congrats to you and your new little additions - great names by the way! So much fun to watch them grow...but beware even those gals can make some serious funky sounds when laying there eggs, but it's so worth it :)
